GRAD SESSION TIPS
Highschool grad comes around once in your life, so it is definitely a time that needs to be photographed!!! It's one of my all time favourite times of the year. I get to meet so many wonderful graduates along with their families!
Below are a few of my main tips for a successful grad session!
Choosing date and time
I'm a natural light photographer, I love the sun and its reflections, I love how it creates photographs that feel fresh, timeless and true to you. I try to begin all grad sessions about an hour before the scheduled sunset during golden hour when the light is the dreamiest. To get the most out of your session, please plan a buffer when getting ready so you can arrive a few minutes early. We're only able to shoot when natural light is still in the sky, so we'll want to take advantage of every minute we have together before the sun goes down.
Location
This one can sometimes be hard. Because there are so many wonderful options out there. The possibilities are endless and honestly quite overwhelming. Brainstorm locations that mean something to you! Places that excite you, have a special meaning, example: your farm with your horse, cows! etc. But don't be afraid to keep it simple either. Don't rule out your favourite store, favourite park... if it makes you happy, do it! Now, start discussing what kind of session you want. Outdoor and woodsy?! Modern and urban?! Laid back?! Once vou had that figured out vou can narrow down locations! Also keep in mind that some locations require photo permits or a contract, if that is that case that will have to be dealt with before your session! I often tell my grads to pick two locations in close proximity of each other. When doing this make sure to plan a route in advance so you're making most out of your session! Once the location and date are decided we will check out sunset time and decide on a time for the session!
Prior to your session
Girls! Have your make up and hair trial booked for the day of your session - this way you can figure out what you want for the day of your grad as well! I highly recommend Jade @jade_sheerperfection Boys! Make sure to have your suits steamed and ready to go! If you are wanting to bring props, let me know ahead of time so l can be prepared.
During + after your session
Let's have fun! My best piece of advice is to let loose and open up with me! We will be dancing, jumping, running around! If you have any ideas of what you are wanting please let me know beforehand! Sneak peeks will be posted within 24 hours of your session - if vou don't want them posted please let me know! You will receive your edited gallery about 2-3 weeks after your session - from there you can save all your images and download/post as you please. I do ask if posting on social media to tag me!
